Document Examination Laboratory

In the present forensic era Document Examiners play a very important role in investigating a scene of crime. This division deals with the examination to all types of Questioned Documents, whether it is hand-written or a printed matter, Document Examination is a branch of forensic science which works with help of advanced Technology and instrumentation. The adminicle things to the document examiner are Magnifiers and Microscopes, make small things visible and measurable, combining those devices with cameras allow examiners to get a clear view of the images for proper examination and to present the fact before clients and a flair fact in court of law. To give opinion in matters like establishing genuineness of questioned writings and signatures, identifying or making model or age of type writer, examinations and identification of rubber stamps and metal seals, deciphering erased, altered, added or obliterated writing, indented, charred as secret core tings, traced document and the detection of non-contemporaneous handwritten entries. Examination of writing material like paper, peer, pencil and inks. Dictation of fared lottery tickets, railway tickets, and counterfeit currency notes etc. determination of age of ink, paper and other documents. A variety of other advanced light sources are now available in the modern forensic science to help the examiner for their use where the magnifiers and microscopes are not able to. More recently an instrument known as an Electrostatic Detection Apparatus, or ESDA, is now used to produce a visual image of the indented writing on transparency film. In this method, indented writings are identified and deciphered by means of low angle oblique light and photography. It’s a non-destructive and rather non-detectable method. Another instrument such as a Video Spectral Comparator (VSC) assist in the case of an obliteration or alteration. The VSC allows the examiner to examine the document through infrared illumination using as infrared sensitive CCD camera as a detector. The image is examined by viewing on a monitor and digital image processing through a computer. This technique is also very useful in ink differentiation.

Fingerprint Examination Laboratory

Now a days, Fingerprint Science is one of the most popular and demanding branches of Forensic Science. Everyone knows about fingerprints whether a child or adult. People generally know about fingerprints watching many TV serials like CSI, Dexter and CID, these serials generate their interest for making their career in the field of forensic science and criminal investigation. A Fingerprint is an impression of the friction ridges finds as the raised portion of the epidermis on the palmar (palm), or digits (finger and toes) or plantar (sole) skin. Fingerprint is the science taking imprints of a person’s fingers for the purpose of establishing personal identification. Forensic Science has proven that the likelihood of two human beings having the same fingerprints is infinitesimal, and it has been concluded that the process of fingerprinting as a means of establishing personal identification is infallible.

ALFA deals with a wide range of fingerprints services, whether development of fingerprints at crime scene or Fingerprints for VISA and Immigration. For Development and preservation of various types of fingerprints (latent prints, patent prints and plastic prints) our experts use a large variety of physical and chemical methods or techniques. Our fingerprint experts are highly skilled and they have a wealth of many years of work experience from various private and government forensic science laboratories.
Fingerprints are basically classified into three categories: Latent or Invisible Prints, Patent or Visible Prints, and Plastic or Greasy Prints.
